Primesure Newsletter: Summer 2025

Kia Ora and welcome to our summer newsletterAs we head into the warmer months and the run-up to the holiday season, it’s a good time to check in, share a few important updates, and celebrate some of the great work happening across our Primesure community. In this edition, we’re covering a couple of key changes that may affect your insurance heading into 2026, including an update on landlord obligations and a look at the latest Distinction policy wordings, with insights from Stella. We’re also giving you a heads-up on our close-down dates over Christmas, so you know exactly how to reach us if something urgent comes up while you’re enjoying some well-earned time off. Alongside this, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our valued clients, ImpacTex, to share some of the great work they’re doing, and recognising one of our own through The Primesure Way, a big congratulations again to Billie, whose commitment and can-do attitude continue to set an example for us all. Thanks for being part of the Primesure whānau. We hope you enjoy the read and have a safe, sunny start to summer. If you need anything at all, our team is here to help. Cheers, Cameron Hollis, MD |

Landlord Obligations – What You Need to KnowIf you’re renting out your home or an investment property, all insurers require landlords to meet certain responsibilities for cover to apply. These obligations protect you, your tenant, and your insurance, and they’re important to be aware of, as claims can be declined if they’re not met. To ensure cover applies, insurers require landlords to take reasonable care when selecting tenants, including obtaining references and keeping clear records. Properties must be inspected regularly (usually every 3–6 months and at each change of tenant), with written reports and photos kept. Landlords also need to monitor rent closely, act promptly on arrears or signs of illegal activity, and keep records of all actions taken. Failure to meet these obligations can impact how a claim is assessed. For the full list of requirements, please refer to your Policy Wording or contact our team if you’re unsure what applies to your cover — we’re always happy to help. |

Client Spotlight – ImpacTex

When Auckland-based ImpacTex opened its doors in January 2022, Founder and CEO Jeff Vollebregt received just one carton of discarded clothing — 11 kilograms. Less than three years later, the company has diverted more than 550 tonnes of textile waste from landfill and is now gearing up to scale nationwide and expand overseas. ImpacTex tackles New Zealand’s textile waste through three clear pathways: collecting end-of-life garments from businesses, donating wearable items to charities, and transforming the remainder into innovative recycled products. More than 60,000 garments have already been donated to local communities, while major international and domestic retailers, brands and corporates rely on ImpacTex to securely decommission uniforms and manage textile waste responsibly. A key part of their innovation includes Retex and Alpine — rigid panels made entirely from recycled textiles and used in signage, displays, and acoustic applications. Fully recyclable and developed in Auckland, these products are proof that circular design can work at scale. “Textile waste created in New Zealand should be handled in New Zealand — using local innovations and Kiwi elbow grease,” says Jeff. “To make a real impact, you have to scale. Growth is what enables you to do more and reach further.” Recently recognised by Mindful Fashion NZ with a Judges’ Commendation for Circular Business Leadership, and named a Finalist in the Sustainable Business Awards, ImpacTex is now exploring South Island expansion and automation solutions to streamline some of the most manual parts of textile recycling.
